A series of earthquakes shook Spain’s southern Granada province on Tuesday, with the strongest tremor reaching magnitude 4.8 and leaving at least three people lightly injured. The quake struck shortly after 10:30 a.m., with its epicentre near Gójar, south of Granada city. Falling debris and cracks were reported in buildings, while emergency services received hundreds of calls. One of those injured, a minor, was taken to hospital for treatment.

The tremors also disrupted life in the historic tourist city, prompting precautionary evacuations and restrictions at the Alhambra, one of Spain’s most famous landmarks. Museums, public buildings and sports facilities were temporarily closed, while authorities urged residents and visitors to remain calm and follow safety advice. The latest earthquake comes after a stronger tremor struck the region several days earlier, followed by numerous aftershocks, keeping emergency teams on alert as seismic activity continues.
