- Push notification subscriptions: If you opt in to breaking news alerts, we store a technical endpoint URL provided by your browser. This does not contain your name, email, or any personal information.

- Page views: Aggregate view counts per article.
- Local storage: We store preferences (cookie consent, text size, article view count, notification preferences) in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.
2. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-SZYNTWHG2V) to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as:
- Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
- How you arrived at the Site (search engine, direct link, social media)
- Your approximate geographic location (country and city)
- Device type, operating system, and browser
- Interactions such as scrolls and clicks

We display advertising on article pages to fund our journalism. Our advertising model is:
- All adverts are served directly by World News Bureau — we do not use third-party ad networks or programmatic exchanges.
- No personal data is shared with advertisers.
- No tracking pixels or third-party scripts are loaded from advertisers.
- We record aggregate impression counts and click counts per advert for reporting purposes only.
- Advertisers do not have access to any user data, analytics, or browsing behaviour.
6. Data Retention
- Comment data is retained for as long as the associated article remains published.
- Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
- Cookies expire as detailed in our Cookie Policy.
7. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR and data protection law, you have the right to:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect prior processing)
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
8. International Transfers
Google Analytics data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Google participates in data protection frameworks and implements appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
