The controversial social-media influencers Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were arrested by US Marshals in Miami, Florida, on a sealed warrant.

The arrests were carried out on behalf of British authorities, who have officially requested the brothers' extradition back to the United Kingdom to face trial. The dual US-UK citizens are expected to make their initial appearance in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, marking a critical escalation in their sprawling international legal battle.

This sudden detention follows a substantial expansion of the criminal case against them by the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). British prosecutors have laid 38 new criminal charges against the brothers, which include seven further counts of rape, sex trafficking, extreme pornography, and offences relating to indecent images of a child targeting Andrew Tate.

Tristan Tate faces additional charges of rape, sexual assault, and arranging trafficking for sexual exploitation. While Bedfordshire Police stated that these new claims involve four additional alleged victims and date back between 2010 and 2017, a lawyer representing the Tates vehemently denied all allegations, dismissing the new charges as a politically motivated hit.
