Manchester City have completed the signing of teenage sensation Jeremy Monga from Leicester City in a deal worth an initial £10 million, further strengthening the club's reputation for securing some of English football's brightest young talents.
The 17-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, keeping him with the Premier League champions until the summer of 2031. The transfer could rise further through performance-related add-ons, with City beating competition from several top clubs to secure one of the country's most highly-rated prospects.
Monga arrives after an impressive breakthrough campaign with Leicester, making 30 first-team appearances and showcasing the pace, skill and confidence that have made him one of the most exciting young players in England. He also became one of the youngest players ever to feature in the Premier League and continued his rapid development despite Leicester's difficult season.
Manchester City's hierarchy view Monga as a player capable of developing into a future first-team regular. New boss Enzo Maresca is already familiar with the youngster from his time at Leicester and is believed to have been a strong supporter of bringing him to Manchester.
The move represents another significant investment in youth by City, who have built a reputation for combining world-class first-team success with the recruitment of elite teenage talent. Monga is expected to continue his development within City's academy and Under-21 setup while also pushing for opportunities with the senior squad over the coming seasons.
For Leicester City, the transfer provides a major financial boost following their recent struggles, while also including future protections through add-ons and potential sell-on clauses. Although Foxes supporters will be disappointed to lose one of their brightest academy graduates, the deal reflects the enormous value placed on Monga's potential by one of Europe's biggest clubs.
