The mother of Henry Nowak’s killer has been jailed for three years after removing the knife used in the fatal stabbing from the scene of the crime. Kiran Kaur, 53, was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court after being found guilty of assisting an offender by taking the weapon to the family home following the attack on 18-year-old university student Henry Nowak in December 2025. Judge William Mousley KC said her actions helped conceal the knife and hindered the police investigation, adding that she had chosen to protect her son rather than ensure he faced justice.
Her son, Vickrum Digwa, was convicted of murdering Mr Nowak and in June was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years after fatally stabbing the teenager in Southampton. Prosecutors said Digwa falsely claimed the victim had racially abused him before the attack, while Kaur's decision to remove the weapon delayed its recovery by investigators. The case sparked widespread public concern over both the handling of the investigation and the circumstances surrounding the killing, with the police response remaining under scrutiny.
